Have you ever wondered what a wagging tail or upright ears really means? In this exciting class, students will become “Doggie Detectives” and learn to crack the code of canine body language! Each week, we will dive into a different topic, exploring how dogs communicate their feelings through posture, facial expressions, movement and more. From understanding happy, relaxed signals to spotting subtle stress cues, recognizing playful behaviors, or identifying warning signs, learners will gain practical knowledge to interpret dog behavior in various situations. We will also be going over dog safety fundamentals - how to approach a dog, what to do if a dog is feeling nervous, and the best ways to show love and respect for animals. This understanding not only fosters empathy but helps children feel confident and safe around dogs, whether that be with their own pets or otherwise. Each session is interactive and engaging, combining fun activities like games, video analysis, and roleplaying with lively discussions and hands-on detective work. Learners will examine pictures and video clips, practice scenarios, and share their observations to build confidence in understanding what our dogs are really saying. This class is perfect for dog lovers, future pet owners, or anyone who wants to feel safer and more connected to our furry friends.
