Welcome to The Creature Collective! This is a safe, inclusive space for animal-loving teens aged 13-18, especially those who identify as neurodivergent or LGBTQ+, to hang out, share, and learn together. Whether you’re snapping photos of critters in your backyard, sketching your favorite wildlife, discussing your favourite video games or shows that feature unique animals, or chatting about fun facts and fascinating creatures, you’ll find your community here! We’re proud to provide a welcoming environment where everyone can feel seen and supported. This is a space for celebrating our shared love for animals and the unique ways we experience the world. Your voice matters here! What we offer in The Creature Collective: 🐾 Photo Share: Share your animal photos from the wild, zoos, aquariums, or your pets! 🎨 Art Share: Post and appreciate amazing animal-inspired art from our talented members. 💬 Discussion Posts: Join themed conversations like “What’s your favorite bird?” or “Cool critters you saw this week.” 🕹️ Interactive Challenges: Participate in trivia, games, and fun activities hosted by your moderator. 🛡️ Safe Moderation: Enjoy a group that’s actively monitored for safety, kindness, and inclusivity. We can’t wait to see what you bring to The Creature Collective—let’s make this space a second home, where you can learn, share, and connect with others who get you!
Learning Goals
Enhance Knowledge of Animals: Members will deepen their understanding of animal biology, behavior, habitats, and conservation through interactive discussions, photo and art sharing, and themed challenges.
Foster Creative Expression: Members will develop their creativity by sharing original animal photography and artwork, encouraging collaborative feedback, and engaging in creative challenges inspired by the natural world.
Other Details
Learning Needs
All of my classes and groups are uniquely designed for neurodivergent minds, with a special focus on ADHD. As someone with ADHD, I incorporate engaging, interactive learning methods that keep attention anchored and foster curiosity.
Parental Guidance
All information and discussion will be kept age-appropriate based on WHO guidelines.
In addition, the group will be grounded in the accepted consensus of the secular scientific community, and will include discussions of evolution by natural selection. Group materials are drawn from primary sources within the fields of biology, zoology, and evolutionary science.
Pre-Requisites
A keen interest in the animal kingdom is recommended!
Language of Instruction
English (Level: A2)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Guidelines
Welcome to Creature Collective! Our goal is for every learner to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. To make this a great space, we ask you to follow these 3 rules:
Be Kind: Create a welcoming and inclusive space.
Learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, and abilities are part of our group. Make sure everyone feels they belong. Teasing, name-calling, or bullying is not allowed. Let’s lift each other up and make this a fun, friendly place.
Be Safe: Protect your personal information and others’.
Keep your personal details like full name, address, school, social media, and gaming handles private. Never ask for someone else’s information either—it’s all about safety first!
Be Respectful: Use kind words and appropriate content.
Share language and material that’s safe for all learners. Avoid swearing, inappropriate images, or anything that wouldn’t pass the “grandparent test.” Treat this group like a public space and remember that respect makes everything better.
By joining Creature Collective, you’re agreeing to these rules—and to help make our group the best it can be!
