Assessments will be given weekly, during the last class of the week. Assessing the learner's vocabulary, reading, and comprehension of the material covered during that week will be the focus. These assessments will be reviewed by me and individual feedback will be given to both the student and the parent. Students will receive constructive feedback and tips on how to improve going forward, while parent(s)/guardian(s) will be made aware of their performance and given ways to support further learning at home outside of class time.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Each lesson will be interactive and give every student a chance to respond, read, and participate if they would like (no pressure classroom). We will work on how to respond accurately to multiple choice questions, play matching and word games with words from the text (e.g. hangman, Wordle), practice constructing sentences, using words in context to determine their meanings and comprehension. Learners will also practice recalling details, making inferences, identifying main ideas, summarizing passages, and analyzing word meanings and figurative language. I do my best to cultivate a supportive classroom where each and every learner feels heard, seen, and understood. This is a place to make mistakes....and be OK with it! That means that learning is taking place and their confidence is growing. *We will have a 5 minute break during each session at the 45 minute mark.* ____________ Week 1 - Learners will quote accurately and draw inferences from the text. After reading, learners will review the prefix 'rupt', explore how it's used in the book, study various words that have it, and practice using these words in context. Week 2 - We will focus on the main idea an plot of the book (Leigh's letters to author Mr. Henshaw shed light on his dreams, goals, school, and home life). We will explore what family means to the learner and focus on how to pick out the main idea in any article, book, or essay. We will also dissect how the characters in the book respond and or change and will write short responses to questions based on the chapters. Week 3 - As we conclude the book, we will focus on figurative language, specifically metaphor, simile, and personification.

Greetings! I'm Courtney and so pleased to meet you! I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Seton Hall University, a Masters Degree from The City University of New York, and a TESOL from Arizona State University.
For the past 7 years, I have worked with a startup as a professional college essay writer and have taught writing and literacy skills in-person and online to both K-12 and adult learners. In these classes, I would engage all of my learners in topics that were of interest to them. This allowed for speedy growth and progress in every aspect of their literacy, speaking, and writing development.
My classes are writing, conversation and literacy-based. Expect a book club, a creative writing class, a social club, and fun trivia as a few of my course offerings.
In my classes, I take a communicative approach to learning. I strive to meet your student where they are in their learning journey and support them from there. Whether it is a 1-day class or a 5-week class, the attention I give to your learner (and you) is personalized.
Speaking of personal, I am a mother of a wonderful 8 year-old. His creative and imaginative personality helps fuel mine. Also, I am from New York City and elephants, lemurs, coffee, and cooking are some of my favorite things.
I appreciate you for your time and look forward to meeting you and your learner in my class!
- Courtney
