US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner Level
This 45 minute class will teach students to use an online 3D design tool. I will show them how to practice using the tool in an exploratory format and they will free practice for approximately 10 minutes. Then, I will show them pictures of a city and what that looks like, and ask questions for comprehension about the elements of a town or city. Then, they will sketch a city for 5-7 minutes on paper. I will have them share their sketches with me. Next, they will start to build their city with the design tool using the 3D design tool. I will discuss the engineering design process and how they may make improvements on their design and also add elements to the city. We will discuss what that will look like if they wanted to make the city more energy efficient, more people or dog friendly, etc. Then they will screenshot their city and I will share them at the end of class if they allow me to.

Learning Needs
This class is taught in a least restrictive environment and is open to all learners. Students need to be proficient with using a computer, however, and have had previous practice using online tools.
Supply List
They will need pencil and paper for their sketch of the city and they will also need an email address (it can be yours if need be) to sign up for the tinkercad website.
