Students will learn in depth about Pluto, including its atmosphere, its surface features, as well as its location in the Solar System, the Kuiper Belt. As students explore the surface of Pluto, they will discover its defining geographical feature, the heart shaped Tombaugh Regio as well as mountain regions and what cryovolcanoes are. They will also learn about the nature of Pluto's expanding and collapsing atmosphere as well as the controversy regarding Pluto's status in the Solar System and why scientists refer to it as a dwarf planet instead of a planet. They will also discover why Pluto has red snow on its surface and what "Pluto Time" is.

The class will begin with a warmup, followed by a slide show with cool photos that brings this remarkable world to life. After the presentation, students will have a chance to share ideas about the next big mission to Pluto.

The class includes a presentation on Pluto. Students are encouraged to participate by asking questions and sharing comments about the subject of Pluto. They will be able to interact with me and with each other during the class through participation. They will also be able to share their responses during the warmup and the student activity. They are also encouraged to discuss anything related to Pluto as well as space itself.

Students are encouraged to bring a love of space and astronomy and a desire to learn about one of the most fascinating worlds in the Solar System, Pluto.
