Homework
1 hour per week. The learners will receive additional learning materials such as PDFs, online quizzes or creative tasks to work on as asynchronous work. It is not mandatory to do the work, but regular revision of vocabulary in particular will help to have the best learning outcome when studying languages.

Tu parles français? 
This fun and interactive 8-week online French course is designed for children aged 10-14 who are new to the French language. 

Through engaging activities, games, and storytelling, students will build a strong foundation in French vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic grammar. Each week, we will explore a new theme, from greetings and introductions to food, family, and everyday conversations. 

In this beginner-friendly course, students will learn essential French words and phrases through interactive activities, role-playing, and cultural insights. By the end of the 8 weeks, your child will be able to introduce themselves, talk about their interests, order food, and have simple conversations in French. Perfect for young learners who want to discover a new language in an exciting and supportive environment. We use ed tech such as Nearpod, Kahoot!, and Gimkit to enhance the learning experience in this French course.

With a focus on speaking and listening, children will gain confidence in using French in real-life situations. 

No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn!

Learning Goals

Learners will develop basic conversational skills in French, including greetings, introductions, and common phrases.
Learners will build a foundational vocabulary covering everyday topics such as family, food, hobbies, and travel.

Unit 1: Bonjour! Getting Started with French
Lesson 1:
Bonjour!
 Say "Bonjour" to French! This week, we’ll learn basic greetings, introduce ourselves, and practice common expressions. Get ready for a fun start to your French journey!
Vocabulary: Greetings, introducing yourself, basic phrases
Speaking: Saying your name and asking others
Cultural Insight: French-speaking countries around the world

My family and me
 Meet the family—en français! We’ll talk about family members and pets while practicing simple sentences about our loved ones.
Vocabulary: Family members, pets, describing people
Grammar: Possessive adjectives (mon, ma, mes), the verb "avoir" (to have)

Cultural Insight: Family life in France

Lesson 3:

Other Details

Parental Guidance
In this class, we will occasionally use Nearpod, Gimkit and Kahoot quizzes through a link that the teacher shares with the learner. The learner will not need to sign in. In addition, we might use a Google document for written assignments and vocabulary. Occasionally, the teacher will share educational, appropriate youtube videos to provide additional material.
Supply List
Learners might need a pen and some paper to take notes or draw during class, and they can also use any other digital note-taking app.
