22 horas 30 minutos horas presenciales
Tarea
2-4 horas por semana. Homework will be a review of the concepts given in class. It will be given at the end of each class and will be expected to be completed by the next class. If the student turns it in at least an hour before class, it will be graded and returned before class starts. Review will happen in the classroom if many students didn't understand the concept and a reteach needs to happen or there is a specific question.
Evaluación

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive coverage of the concepts in a Pre-Algebra 1 course. This is Part 4, the final section, and will focus on the areas of Distance, Angle, Statistics, Probability, Surface Area and Volume. Students will apply previous mathematical experiences to solve real world problems.

Every class will follow a similar outline. All classes will begin with a short warm up. This could be skills that they may have previously learned before taking this course, or those that we have just reviewed. After the warm up, the topic will be introduced. The class will follow and I do, We do, you do format. This means, I will review the first few examples. Then we will complete a few examples together and then we will end with a them completing examples independently. There will be homework at the end of each class and it will be due before the start of the next class. Please note this class will run 3 days a week for 10 weeks. This class will cover chapters 11 - 13. Part 1 covered chapters 1-3, Part 2 covered chapters 4 - 7, and Part 3 covered chapters 8 - 10. The topics are as follows:

Metas de aprendizaje

By the end of this section, students will improve their understanding of Pre-Algebra Skills in order to get them prepared for Algebra I. They will be able to identify the relationships of parallel and intersecting lines, identify properties of congruent triangles, and find the area of polygons, irregular figures, and circles. They will also be able to describe three dimensional figures, find volume and surface area of three dimensional figures, and and examine properties of similar solids. Lastly, they will have the ability to find and use central measures of tendency and variation, display and interpret data, and find probabilities of simple events and independent and dependent events.

Orientación para padres
Please note, this class is the 4th class in a series of classes. If you take this course, you should have taken the first 3 courses or already have significant pre-algebra knowledge. Third Party Tools: This class has the occasional use of Nearpod for review and assessments/quizzes during class and Kahoot for a fun review during class. YouTube video links that can can be viewed at home if the family chooses may be posted in the classroom for extra support on more challenging topics. Please note: if there isn't anyone in attendance, there will not be a class recording. I will wait in the class for the first ten minutes. If no one arrives after that, I will leave. I will post notes of what was to be discussed during class.
Lista de útiles escolares
Most materials will be provided by the instructor. This will include worksheets and assignments needed to review. Students will need access to a printer to print notes and assignments. A basic calculator is needed (TI-30x). If students have access to a smart phone or tablet they can use a calculator app similar to Desmos or the website Desmos.com. Students should also have blank paper (lined or unlined) for taking notes and writing examples, graph paper for the graphing sections. A whiteboard and dry erase markers would also be beneficial for interactive reviews.
