2-4 horas por semana. Homework will be a review of the concepts given in class. It will be given at the end of each class and will be expected to be completed by the next class. If the student turns it in at least an hour before class, it will be graded and returned before class starts. Review will happen in the classroom if many students didn't understand the concept and a reteach needs to happen or there is a specific question.Evaluación
Students will be assessed with a mid chapter quiz for all chapter except the first chapter and a test at the end of each topic. There will be a review and practice to ensure that students are learning what they are supposed to be learning.Experiencia de clase

Grado de EE. UU. 7 - 10
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive coverage of the concepts in an Algebra 1 course. During this class we will get through the first 3 chapters. Students will apply previous mathematical experiences to solve real world problems. Every class will follow a similar outline. All classes will begin with a short warm up. This could be skills that they may have previously learned before taking this course, or those that we have just reviewed. After the warm up, the topic will be introduced. The class will follow and I do, We do, you do format. This means, I will review the first few examples. Then we will complete a few examples together and then we will end with a them completing examples independently. There will be homework at the end of each class and it will be due before the start of the next class. Notes and corrections will be given in the classroom. If many students struggle with the concept, we will review and answer questions in class. Please note this class will run 3 days a week for 10 weeks during the school year. Students will be encouraged to take part 2 and 3 to complete the year long course. The topics are as follows: Chapter 1 Expressions and Functions Class 1 Variables and Expressions Class 2 Order of Operations Class 3 Properties Class 4 Distributive Property Class 5 Relations Class 6 Functions Class 7 Interpreting Graphs of Functions Class 8 Review & Test Chapter 2 Linear Equations Class 9 Writing Equations Class 10 Solving One Step Equations Class 11 Solving Multi Step Equations Class 12 Solving Equations with Variables on both sides Class 13 Solving Equations involving Absolute Value Class 14 Review & Quiz Class 15 Ratios & Proportions Class 16 Literal Equations Class 17 Review & Test Chapter 3 Linear and Nonlinear Functions Class 18 - 19 Graphing Linear Functions Class 20 - 21 Zeros of Linear Functions Class 22 - 23 Rate of Change and Slope Class 24 Review & Quiz Cass 25 - 26 Slope Intercept Form Class 27 Arithmetic Sequences as Linear Functions Class 28 Transformations Class 29 Piecewise & Absolute Value Class 30 Review and Test
Metas de aprendizaje
In this class students will gain an understanding of a few of the beginning algebraic concepts such as expressions & functions, linear equations, and linear and non linear functions. This will prepare them for the second section of this comprehensive algebra course.

Orientación para padres
Parents should be aware that this course is an algebra course and students will be expected to have some knowledge of pre algebra skills.
Please note: if there isn't anyone in attendance, there will not be a class recording. I will wait in the class for the first ten minutes. If no one arrives after that, I will leave. I will post notes of what was to be discussed during class.
Lista de útiles escolares
Most materials will be provided by the instructor. This will include worksheets and assignments needed to review. Students will need access to a printer to print notes and assignments. A basic calculator is needed (TI-30x) or a graphing calculator (TI-84). If students have access to a smart phone or tablet they can use a calculator app similar to Graphing Calc 2. They can also use the scientific calculator at desmos.com/scientific or the graphing calculator at desmos.com/graphing. These are my favorite. Students should also have blank paper (lined or unlined) for taking notes and writing examples, graph paper for the graphing sections.
