Anatomy & Physiology Self-Paced Course Chapter 3

Completed by 1 learner
Ages 15-18
Self-Paced Course
This self-paced A&P class is focused on the cellular level of organization. This foundational knowledge is essential for identifying how diseases begin at the cellular level, predicting how they progress, and developing effective treatment.

Assignments
1-2 hours per week. After each of the three lessons, there will be an activity that demonstrates students understanding of the material.
Mastery Evaluation
At the end of the chapter, there will be a final cummulative test.
Grading
I provide feedback on students work as they turn the material in. I can also provide an assessment for records at the end of the course if requested when the class is scheduled.

Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
Beginner Level
The overall A&P program is broken down into smaller unit studies which are also broken down into chapters. Each chapter is further broken down into lessons. There are between 3 and 6 lessons per chapter, including the final chapter test. A new chapter will be added to Outschool every two weeks until the entire course has been added. Each lesson is then broken down into a powerpoint video that teaches the topic, readings that delve a bit deeper, problem-based activities, and Quizzlets (optional).

This setup provides a way to reduce the overwhelming feeling that sometimes comes up when we are faced with a daunting task while also allowing students and parents to choose to take the entire course, or just the units and chapters they are interested in learning.

There will be 6 Units and 17 Chapter
This is course is Chapter 3: The Cellular Level of Organization

Though this progam is self-paced, I am always available for help or guidance if needed through email or video. Though I hold students to a high standard I understand that standard is different for each student. I believe the best way to learn in through guidance as a learner progresses. I can provide grades if requested, but I focus mostly on providing critical feedback that will help guide the student to a better understanding. I see mistakes as learning points and not as something that is bad or needed to be avoided at the cost of true effort.

Learning Goals

Identify the major parts of a cell (such as the nucleus, cell membrane, mitochondria, etc.) and explain their individual functions, understanding how each part contributes to the cell's role in the body.
Describe the mechanisms of cell transport, including diffusion, osmosis, and active transport, and explain how these processes are essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by allowing the movement of nutrients, waste, and other molecules
