US Grade 5 - 8
The natural world has been creating solutions to problems for a millennium, it is only natural for humans to look there to help with our own problems. This enrichment class is a mixture of readings, videos, journal and worksheet activities as well as a final STEM challenge related to the reading content. The main topics covered are STEM based, but the readings and activities also blend into other subjects such as mythology and fashion. The goal of this enrichment class is to provide youth with enough information and activity to inspire them to continue their own explorations of the topic and the natural world outside their doors. Please have your youth take pictures or make copies of their work and send them my way. Their challenge actvity can be presented in any way they choose such as slides show, video, poster, etc. I will provide feedback on their work and send it back to them. If you would like grades on the completed work, I would be more than happy to provide that for you. And though there are no live classes, I am also happy to be available if there is a question or comment about the class. If you choose to print the program, the program is formatted to be printed front to back like a book.

I am a progressive education professional with over two decades of experience in both formal and informal educational settings. I've had the privilege of teaching every grade from Pre-K through 12, and while I’ve taught all subjects at one point or another, my true expertise lies in the sciences. My passion is creating nature-based, interdisciplinary learning experiences that foster curiosity and exploration, all with a strong commitment to equity.
As a child, I loved spending time outdoors with friends, exploring the world around me. That connection to nature has been a driving force in my life, and I’m dedicated to passing that love of the natural world on to today’s children. I believe in the power of hands-on, experiential learning to engage students in meaningful ways. Real-world experiences help them not only understand the content but also develop a deeper appreciation for learning itself. While I’m well-versed in a variety of teaching methods, I prefer to immerse students in activities that bring the natural world into the classroom, sparking their curiosity and wonder for science and the environment.
