My AP Biology summer preview course is designed to introduce the entire AP Biology curriculum, ensuring you gain a basic understanding of foundational and advanced topics that will be covered during the full course. The course will help you build knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in both your coursework and the AP Biology exam.

We’ll explore the essential concepts of AP Biology, including:

*The chemistry of life: water, macromolecules, and enzymes
*Cellular structure, function, and processes like cellular respiration and photosynthesis
*Genetics and heredity, including Mendelian genetics and molecular biology
*Evolutionary biology and natural selection
*Ecology, ecosystems, and energy flow
*Experimental design and data interpretation

Each session will follow a clear structure:
1. Introduction & Goal Setting: Outline the session's objectives.
2. Concept Exploration: Engage with slides, short videos, or diagrams to clarify key ideas.
3. Interactive Learning: Participate in games, discussions, and practice questions.
4. Hands-on Application: Work through AP-style problems and analyze real-world scenarios.
5. Wrap-Up: Summarize key takeaways and set study goals for the next session.

I use a student-centered approach, tailoring sessions to your unique learning style and pace. Lessons will feature a mix of lectures, guided discussions, and problem-solving activities to ensure a deep and lasting understanding of the material. I also emphasize active participation, critical thinking, and application of concepts.

My teaching style is engaging, approachable, and adaptive. I focus on breaking down complex topics into simple, digestible parts while fostering curiosity and confidence. I encourage questions, discussions, and collaborative problem-solving to make learning dynamic and enjoyable.

Interaction is at the heart of my sessions. You can expect:
-Live Lectures: Interactive talks with pauses for Q&A.
-Games & Activities: Quizzes, flashcards, and biology-themed games to reinforce learning.
-Multimedia Tools: Slides, video clips, and animations for visual learners.
-Discussions: Open dialogue to clarify doubts and deepen understanding.
-One-on-One Support: Personalized feedback on practice questions and study strategies.

With these sessions, you'll gain the tools, strategies, and confidence to ace AP Biology while truly understanding the fascinating science of life.

Wisconsin Teaching Certificate in Science
I have taught AP Biology in the classroom for over ten years. Students enjoy the variety of activities I use in class to teach the material and most are successful on the exam in May. I have also participated in the AP Biology read for the last three years and will do so again in June 2025. Experienced teachers gather in Kansas City for a week each summer to score the free response questions submitted by every student that took the exam. My training and experience at this event has given me valuable insight that I can pass on to my students in terms of useful test-taking strategies.
