US Grade 5 - 7
Students do not need to know the organs or organ systems of humans to be successful in this class. This class works well as an introduction to learning more about complex animal organisms; such as humans. I will use a combination of: visual presentation with video teacher-led student drawings to illustrate and organize the vocabulary words class discussion to teach this science concept. Students will summarize the organization and function of animal cell organelles. Students will receive a link to vocabulary flashcards after completing this class for continued practice. ******NOTE********** I recommend taking this class BEFORE the plant cell organelle class.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
Correctly use the following vocabulary: the cell membrane, the nucleus, mitochondria, and vacuoles.
Explain how animal cells are organized structurally
Use a Thinking Map to illustrate the parts of an animal cell
Understand how organelles work together in an animal cell.
Recognize the animal cell organelles.
