Your Brain - How Does Meditation Work?

Knowing "the how" and "the way" meditation works provides your child the science of the brain & how to apply the science as pivotal tool and resource to create change & positive direction. These new teachings can inspire our actions to be a source of health & wellness not just for ourselves but our family and communities. The class structure is based on a 3-day commitment that provides the student the opportunity to dive into practice. Each 50 minute class will have 15- 30minutes of lecture, slides, demonstration & discussion followed by yoga & meditation practice. Your child does not need prior yoga knowledge to attend & flourish. The topics will cover basic: Day 1: * Students will learn brain anatomy & structure, including the location & function of the prefrontal cortex, amygala, hippocampus, white & gray matter plus much more. Lots of fun facts about the brain! * Meaning of Intention and how to apply intention into a daily meditation practice. Day 2: * Students will dive into the anatomy of the neuron and how synapses connect & have the ability to create new pathways, i.e. the Science of Neuroplasticity. Day 3: *Discuss, review and how to daily apply the science of meditation into an easy daily practice, like brushing there teeth. Day 1, 2 & 3: * A daily short none strenuous movement practice followed by a lead focus meditation practice. Practices will consist of simple movement aligning the breath to prepare the body to be still for meditation. *We have been given this opportunity through these unprecedented times to look within and teach ourselves & children tools that lay within us to bring self awareness, steadiness and calm. Supply List
Each student should use a yoga mat or a non-slippery rug or blanket to perform yoga steps. The room should have some space to freely move around and stretch.
