Welcome to this unique, one-of-a-kind class! We will master writing an opinion paragraph with step-by-step instructions while using graphic organizers to guide us through the writing process. Here is what one Outschool parent has to say about this class: 💬"My learner enjoyed the reading, debate and writing session a lot. Teacher is an expert on leading my learner to think, speak and put in writing. Strongly recommend." Class Structure: ✔️We'll read an article about a debatable topic, such as: Should restaurants ban smartphones? Should gaming be considered a sport? Is texting ruining your writing? Do celebrities make too much money? Is it better to read from a book or from a device? Should we get paid to recycle? ✔️We'll briefly discuss the topic, pulling details from the text to support our opinions. ✔️We'll complete a graphic organizer to plan our opinion paragraph. ✔️We'll each write a complete, well-developed paragraph supporting our stance on the topic, including a topic sentence, reasons and examples to support our stance, linking words, and a concluding sentence. **If time does not permit learners to finish their paragraph in class, they may complete it outside of class and submit it to the teacher for feedback.** Feedback will be given to learners after completing their paragraphs if submitted to the teacher (during or after class.) The article will be shared on the screen during class. Occasionally, the teacher for this class may not be able to teach and Outschool classroom before the class takes place in the event a substitute will be teaching. I am happy to offer a refund to any learner who prefers not to attend the class with a substitute. Please send a message through Outschool in that event and I will issue a refund. Thank you!
