If you love WWE and want a fun way to pin down math, then this is the place for you! We use superstar stats, title reigns, match times, and the latest wrestling news to bring math to life in a charismatic and exciting way. This class is a ton of fun and a great way to learn math. Hope to see you in class. Come join the TEAM! TYPICAL CLASS We use slides to guide each class in a smooth and organized way. Each class starts with the Kickoff Promo and Life Lesson of the Day. The Life Lesson of the Day is a quote or proverb from Life’s Little Instruction Book, where we discuss things like "Keep jumper cables in your car", "control what you can control" or "you can sleep late, but the world doesn't." You can read more about those on my teaching profile but I believe they are a fundamental part of helping young people become good adults! Next, we recap the most recent WWE news. We'll talk about the biggest matches, most important stories, surprising returns, and the best behind the scenes news. and wrestling history. Students also vote on their favorite moments and debate match results! Then, we dive into wrestling math problems based on real stats, past title reigns, and match results. Each student gets a chance to solve the problem anonymously, and we work through it together using a whiteboard and document camera. Feel free to update me as frequently as you see fit to update me on what your child is needs help in! Here are some examples of the math topics we cover: Multiplication: Roman Reigns held the Universal Championship for 1,316 days. If he defended it 4 times per year, how many defenses did he have? Fractions: ⅗ of the Royal Rumble winners have challenged for the WWE Championship. What fraction of winners did not? Percentages: 75% of Money in the Bank winners have successfully cashed in. If there have been 30 winners, how many failed? Mean, Median, Mode: Calculate the average match time from a recent PPV. Equations: If a match lasted 24 minutes and the first half had 14 minutes of technical wrestling, how many minutes were spent on finishing moves? Decimals: A ladder match had 7 competitors, and ? Geometry: The WWE ring is a square with sides measuring 20 feet. What is its perimeter and area? We also explore: -Order of Operations (PEMDAS) -Fractions, Decimals, and Percents -Data and Statistics (Win/Loss Records) -Converting Time (Match Lengths) -Algebra Concepts At the end of each class, we have a closing activity where we predict upcoming PPV matches, debate winners, and track correct picks on the leaderboard! We also play wrestling trivia, covering This Week in Wrestling History, Title Reigns & Royal Rumble Stats, Superstar Records & Fun Facts, and more. ***COUPONS*** -If you are new to Outschool, use code CoachUt20 at checkout for $20 off your first class! I started on Outschool teaching my wrestling social club, the Wrestling Talk Team when I thought of a way to combine math, history, and wrestling in a way that makes numbers FUN. Whether you're calculating Royal Rumble eliminations or predicting WrestleMania main events, this class is fun for me every time!! I love helping fellow wrestling fans grow and succeed in the classroom and in life!! Come join the TEAM!!
