Class Experience
Class Description Ever wonder where you’ll be in 5 years? 10 years? 40 years? This class is your guide to thriving in the real world! Those first few years after high school are pivotal. The foundation you build in your early years is often a sign as to how your life will turn out later in life and this course is designed to give you a head start. Learn about essential life skills like budgeting, job applications, meal planning, investing, and more in a supportive, engaging environment. What You’ll Learn - In our first class, I will go through a list of questions with each student so that I can get an idea of their situation. Questions like "do you do a budget", "what can you tell me about what you plan to do after high school", and "have you ever filled out an application for a job" will give me an idea of where they are at in life, what they already know, and based on their situation what they need to know the most. Each class is centered around topics like this. *Budget Basics: Learn why a budget is essential, how to make one, and how to stick to it—while still having fun. *Post-Secondary Choices: Explore life after high school: college, trade school, military, or workforce. Find out what’s right for you. *Time Management & Weekly Reset: Master tools like to-do lists, calendars, and routines to make the most of your time. *Utilities, Cars & Insurance: From understanding utility bills to car ownership and insurance, get the knowledge you need to adult like a pro. *Feeding Yourself: Create grocery lists, meal plans, and easy, budget-friendly meals to stay healthy and save money. *Investing Basics: Start building your financial future today with investing tips to grow your money for the long haul. *Habits of Health: Learn to prioritize your physical and mental well-being with tips on exercise, sleep, and stress management. *Applications: Get hands-on practice filling out real-world applications for jobs, housing, college, and more. *Sharpen the Saw: Discover fun, affordable ways to unwind, recharge, and avoid burnout as a young adult. *Motivation Monday: Build successful habits, set goals, and create a strong network to set yourself up for a meaningful, fulfilling life. *More are always being added based on student need. Class Structure *Slides for Guidance: Each session is guided by slides for a smooth, organized learning experience. *Team Meetings & Life Lessons: Start with a quick check-in and a relevant life lesson to kick off the class. *Interactive Ice Breakers: Weekly icebreakers get the conversation started and help students connect with the material. *Hands-On Practice: Each class includes practical activities, from creating budgets to mock applications, tailored to your goals. When I was 17 I pretty much had to "figure it out" for myself. It took me awhile but I finally graduated college and in that time had learned a lot about how the world worked. If only I had learned some of it earlier. Now I have a chance to see what happens when I share that information with the world and give tips on my experiences as well as information I have gathered using the experience of others and share with students form around the world.
