I hope we get to see you in class. No prior football or finance knowledge is required!! Come join the team!

***TYPICAL CLASS***
We use slides to guide each class in a smooth and organized way. Each class starts with the Team Meeting and Life Lesson of the Day. The Life Lesson of the Day is a quote or proverb from a book called "Life's Little Instruction Book" and is where we discuss things like "Keep jumper cables in your car", "control what you can control" or "you can sleep late, but the world doesn't." You can read more about those on my teaching profile but I believe they are a fundamental part of helping young people become good adults! We then do our Ice Breaker Check In where students have a moment to fill us in on what's been going on in life, any goals they have set or progress they have made on their goals, and an ice breaker question of the week.

Next, we start by introducing the concept lesson by looking at how that concept is used in the world of the NFL. After that we discuss how that concept can be applied to every day personal finance. The students will look at real-life case study's of how NFL players and teams manage their money and decide what the best decisions to make in those situations would be. Each lesson I will include an activity that students can take with them and do outside of class to reinforce the learning as well.

By the end of this class, students will create their own financial playbook, ensuring they know how to budget, save, invest, and make smart money moves—whether they become an NFL star or just want to secure their financial future!

***CLASS INSPIRATION***
After I moved out on my own, I quickly learned that money touches every area of our lives. Having financial literacy is the difference in the way many people live their lives. I decided to major in business in college before switching to education and committed myself to learning everything about finance that I could. Now, I have an opportunity to combine two things I am very passionate about, finance and football!

Learning Goals

Make smart spending decisions – Understand the difference between essential expenses, wants, and financial pitfalls that cause athletes (and everyday people) to go broke.
Save for emergencies like a backup QB – Prepare for unexpected expenses by learning why having an emergency fund is just as important as having a solid backup quarterback
