Learning to read isn't always motivating for young learners, especially when reading just doesn't come easy. It's no secret that the best way to make reading go from "battleground" to "playground" is to incorporate learning opportunities with games. Break up the monotony of traditional instruction with some fun! Enjoy this reproducible and printable GAME for engaging your emerging reader in applying phonics/decoding skills in a FUN and MOTIVATING way! Enrollment allows you access to this unique game that is specially differentiated for beginning and/or struggling readers. This game is not supervised or facilitated by the teacher. There is no lesson other than the tutorial for how to play the game. It will require an adult or strong reader on your end to help scaffold the basic reading skills presented in this game. The game also sneaks in a little math (counting by 5's) and players get to add up their nickels to see what they've earned at the Discount Store. Once you've played the game a few times one way, you have options for playing yet another way as well.
