The speed of light is one of the fundamental properties of our Universe. In this one-time class we will explore our current understanding of spacetime and why a speed limit exists. We will investigate question such as: - How do we know there is a speed of light? - How did we measure the speed of light? - What is spacetime? - What happens to an object as it approaches the speed of light? - Is the Universe expanding faster than the speed of light? - Is there anyway to get around the speed of light? - What are some consequences of a cosmic speed limit? The class is lecture and discussion based. Learners will view and participate in a presentation full of images and some videos. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and think critically about space and the speed of light!
