This class is kept as a small group to ensure that a maximum amount of learning and involvement is guaranteed for this class. This class will be solely focused on solving two-step word problems using a variety of ways. The students will be presented with two to three two-step word problems each class session and we will discover as many strategies, models, pictures and ways as possible to solve that word problem. The students will be encouraged to participate and discuss with the class each class session. Other skills that will be included in the two-step word problems throughout the weeks will include: elapsed time, money, and graphs.

For the past 10 years I have specialized in teaching math to elementary age students. I have learned that many students get overwhelmed when looking at a word problem and immediately they begin to shut down and tune out the information. I have found that when teaching students to take word problems one step at a time and to analyze the information in the word problem, that they can solve them easily.
I also know that many students learn differently and it has been a passion of mine to show students that there is no "one" solution to a problem. I teach kiddos that there are many ways to solve a problem and they should use what works for them.
My passion is teaching kiddos that math does not have to be overwhelming, but that we can find a way to embrace and love the challenge that math brings to our daily life. Reviews
