This class is kept as a small group to ensure that a maximum amount of learning and involvement is guaranteed for this class. This class will be solely focused on solving two-step word problems using a variety of ways. The students will be presented with two to three two-step word problems each class session and we will discover as many strategies, models, pictures and ways as possible to solve that word problem. For the past 10 years I have specialized in teaching math to elementary age students. I have learned that many students get overwhelmed when looking at a word problem and immediately they begin to shut down and tune out the information. I have found that when teaching students to take word problems one step at a time and to analyze the information in the word problem, that they can solve them easily. I also know that many students learn differently and it has been a passion of mine to show students that there is no "one" solution to a problem. I teach kiddos that there are many ways to solve a problem and they should use what works for them. My passion is teaching kiddos that math does not have to be overwhelming, but that we can find a way to embrace and love the challenge that math brings to our daily life.
