includedClass Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
During this 5 week book study we will have one read-aloud each class. We will then discuss each book and the grammar that is presented throughout that book. The students will create sentences with the grammar that is being discussed that week along with identifying the different parts of grammar in written sentences. We will use a variety of learning styles from verbal, kinesthetic, auditory, written and we will even have some creative art thrown into class for fun. Each week we will study a different part of speech. The last week of class we will put all of the parts of speech together and create sentences using all of the correct parts of speech. Week one: nouns (Chicken in the City) The learner will be able to list, recognize, and name nouns Week two: pronouns (The Planet Without Pronouns) The learner will review nouns, and will be able to create pronouns to replace different nouns in a sentence. Week three: verbs (A Verb for Herb) The learner will recognize and name verbs and create sentences with verbs. The learner will also review the previous parts of speech. Week four: adverbs (Tillie's Tuba) The learner will identify adverbs in a sentence along with naming or listing adverbs. Week five: putting it all together and review. The learner will use all that they learned to identify different parts of speech and will be able to create complete sentences and identify the parts of speech used in that sentence.
