Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
This class is based on a very fun and informative read aloud from the book: My Weird School Fast Facts - Geography. We will learn very interesting facts about the earth, it's continents, the land and water on the earth, natural disasters, and about our fifty states.

The book itself is written in a dialogue format with students parring back and forth about the information that they know. To give an idea of the information presented - one entry about Africa states "There are more that fifty countries in Africa, and the people there speak two thousand different languages." There is so much to learn that we have never even thought of when going through this book with the kiddos.

Each class we will take one chapter and read that read-aloud. Then we will have a class discussion on the topic that was read about and will look at images, maps, globes, and other books when discussing what was learned.

The read alouds and discussions will follow this schedule:
Class one: What is Geography and Who Cares Anyway?
Class two: Planet Earth
Class three: The Continents
Class four: Water
Class five: Mountains, Deserts, and Forests
Class six: The Fifty United States
Class seven: Natural Disasters
Class eight: The Ending
