Even universities have noticed that we need to start taking skills like kindness off the back burner and giving them some attention! Kindness is becoming something very important for college entry. By creating an emphasis on kindness and civility, universities will be able to create a better  learning environment. 

Lesson 1: "What is kindness and how do we use it?" We will review the technical definition of kindness and define it in our own words.  We will discuss  and journal about a time when someone was kind to us. We will brainstorm ideas on how we can use kindness this week to increase happiness in our own lives and the environment around us. 

Lesson 2: Share experiences from week 1 and discover new ideas to use kindness in week 2 of the Kindness Project. We will engage in a journaling prompt and discuss how kind communication skills allow us to use Acts of Kindness when communicating with others. 

Lesson 3: Share experiences from week 2 and discover new ideas to use kindness in week 3 of the Kindness Project. We will engage in a journaling prompt and discuss inclusion as an Act of Kindness. 

Lesson 4: Share experiences from week 3 of the Kindness Project & engage in a journal prompt review exercise. This is a time to review & explore the life skill of mindful kindness and how it has increased our own emotional wellbeing. We will conclude with discovering how to bring kindness with us into our own lives after the completion of this class. 

This is a highly interactive class that includes discussion. This class will be taught through the use of a slide show, journaling and interactive discussion. Instructor may share educational videos in the classroom if deemed useful.

Supply List
Required Materials: A journal, spiral notebook or just some paper and something to write with. An open heart!
Optional: Markers, crayons or colored pencils if you would like to get creative!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I teach classes that center around the important aspects of "Whole Wellness". I have over 20 years in the health and wellness field, Masters Degree in Exercise Science & Health Promotion, Bachelors in Cellular Biology and multiple certifications/specializations through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, to include: Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, Weight Loss Specialist, Sports Nutrition Specialist, and Behavior Change Specialist. I also hold certifications through Yogafit and National Association of Speed and Explosion. I teach wellness classes to children locally, as well as specialize in one on one wellness coaching of children and adults all over the World! As a kidney transplant recipient, and Polycystic Kidney Disease Warrior, I have adopted an approach to wellness that is truly a life long learning approach. I believe it is vital to approach Wellness in a realistic step by step manner, as opposed to the "all or nothing" behavior that is seen all too often.

Additional fun tidbits for the kids: Some of my favorite activities are stand up paddle boarding, yoga and snowboarding! I absolutely LOVE the water, but lived in the Mojave Desert for over 5 years!
