This club meets weekly and emphasizes intermediate acting. Activities will encourage students to develop their improvisation skills, physicality/movement traits, and the importance of cooperation. Students will begin each lesson by taking part in The Actor’s Toolbox. This is an acting ritual that builds classroom community, but also provides students with the metaphorical “tools” that will be needed to become a successful performer. - Engage in imaginative play. - Improvise a character and setting from a story. - Demonstrate the give and take essential to effective collaboration. - Demonstrate active listening. - Use variations of voice, movement, and gesture for different characters.
45 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
- Class will incorporate C.H.A.M.P.S. (Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success) This is a system of expectations that will be covered before each day of camp. It is an opportunity for students to ask clarifying questions and to help create a successful and safe learning environment. - Physical activity will not be overly strenuous. Students are encouraged but not required to wear comfortable clothing that supports flexible movement.
