I have been teaching this class for over 27 years and have taught thousands of tweens.  This is an already 'tried and tested' class that will helps tweens feel more comfortable being home alone. As a registered nurse and the mother of 3,  and the creator of well being classes, an enrichment company, I understand the fear felt by parents and child when they get to an age which allows them more independence.

Homework Offered
The homework assignment can be located in the learners manual.  Parent and child will use the guide to discuss safety features in the house along with what is allowed when home alone.  Part of the homework is for the learner to be home alone during the day for 15-30 minutes while the parents or family takes a walk.  There are a few questions the learner can answer immediately after this experience.  An evening assignment is also suggested but not required
*Parents will need to check local state laws before leaving a child home alone. In the US, only OR, MD and IL have age requirements but taking a class will only help give them the confidence needed.
