Description
Class Experience
In this one time class, learners will read a passage I screen share and learn about accuracy in reading. They will also learn strategies to answer questions about the reading passage and practice using those strategies with guided practice. *Please let me know prior to the class meeting if you learner does not want to read aloud in class. This is a one-time class but can be repeated multiple times depending on class availability. Reading material changes each week, but the structure and focus...
The goal of this class is to help learners become more aware of reading in context in order to help them remember the meanings of the words they read and how to find information to answer questions about what is read.
Over the years I have loved helping children and teens from 2 years old to 19 improve their speech, language, auditory, phonics, reading and brain fitness skills and much more. I meet my students where they are at their level. As I teach, I adjust to help reluctant learners as well as others who may need or want more challenge. I have decades of experience teaching each of these types of learners within the same class. I try to make my classes engaging and fun. I have a wide range of experience that includes teaching those on the autism spectrum, learning disabled students, add/adhd and many more areas of concern, as well as, experience teaching regular and gifted learners. I have found that patient encouragement in a structured and energetic yet relaxed classroom environment helps learners brains focus to receive information better and helps them become detail oriented.
Optional extra practice material as well as the passage read in class and a copy of the helpful hints/strategies discussed will be posted in the classroom asap after class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will self check or provide answers when asked to help assess retention of strategies taught
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
