⛔️---Please note----- this is a self-paced class so there are NO scheduled live meetings. Students will learn through pre-recorded videos and workbooks. The live meetings version of this class can be found here: https://outschool.com/classes/the-stage-is-yours-6-week-long-theater-acting-lessons-for-beginners-kSyTs7vW 🎭 A B O U T T H E C L A S S 🎭 -This class will allow for learners to learn the basics of acting and have fun doing it! -This class is required before taking the Intermediate Acting Class - Students from my 1:1 acting lessons are welcome to join this class, however some information might be repetitive. 🎭 C O U R S E O U T L I N E 🎭 -Students will receive an instructional video for each class, demonstrating the monologues/scenes and any skills we are focused on. -Students will receive a PDF document with all of the information we go over and their assignments. -Students should practice alongside the videos to improve in their acting skills. -I will start every video with a body, voice, and face warm up, fun game, and "get to know you" questions before diving into acting practice! Students are more than welcome to send me a message with some information about them! 🎭 S C H E D U L E 🎭 -Class 1: We will discuss the basics of stage presence. This includes facial expressions, using our voice, using our body, and reading with expression. Optional Homework: Learners can submit a video introducing themselves and reading the poem with expression. They can also show me their facial expressions with the few emotions mentioned in the video and in the workbook. I'd love to also see their natural acting in the assigned monologue. -Class 2: We will discuss the process of breaking down a monologue and how to choose one for an audition. Learners will gain an understanding on what to do when given a complex or long monologue. Optional Homework: Learners can submit a video acting out the given monologue showing that they understand how to break down a monologue and after they practiced it out loud a few times. -Class 3: We will discuss methods to reading scripts and practice different monologues, including practicing a villain! Optional Homework: Learners can submit a video performing opposite monologues and practice being a villain. -Class 4: We will learn the basics of improv acting and discuss the rules. Optional Homework: Learners can perform an improv scene with the prompts given in the PDF. I have options for a one person scene as well. -Class 5: We will learn about different types of auditions and discuss the process of preparing and performing for auditions. Homework: Learners will submit a video of them practicing an audition and cold read. -Class 6: We will discuss the 3 different types of characters. Homework: Learners will submit a video performing all 3 of the different kinds of characters' monologues. 🎭 B O N U S 🎭 Students will receive 𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨 including: - Play-along videos - 6 student workbooks **Please note that these resources are custom created by me and should NOT be shared with anyone except students enrolled in the course. 🎭W H Y S E L F P A C E D? 🎭 -Students will receive access to a PDF that will help them follow along with all lessons! -Students will be able to watch the pre-recorded videos as many times as they need. -Students can choose whenever they would like to watch the videos/focus on the class. -Students will still receive feedback if they choose to submit videos/comments. -Students will have access to the class for A WHOLE YEAR! 🎉 🎭 C R E D E N T I A L S 🎭 -Degree in Theatre Arts and Education -Two years experience in a classroom setting -Directed shows for different ages -Performed in multiple shows with experience in singing, dancing, and technical design We are going to have a blast learning about the basics of acting. Stage Presence 101
We will discuss the basics of stage presence. This includes facial expressions, using our voice, using our body, and reading with expression. This allows for learners to understand the basics of stage performing.

Lesson 2:
Getting Into Character
We will discuss strategies for getting into character and connecting with difficult characters by analyzing our favorite shows/movies. I will give an example of how I would break this process down and give myself permission to become somebody else for the scene.

Intro to Script Reading
We will discuss methods to reading scripts and practice different monologues, including practicing multiple kinds of characters, including a villain!

We will learn the basics of improv acting and discuss the rules. Students will receive a list of scene ideas they can practice with their friends/family to gain a better understanding on this concept.
