This class is taught in English.
I have successfully taught a wide variety of children to read throughout my years of teaching pre-k-3rd grade. I have extensive training in the body of research called the science of reading to understand how the brain learns to read. I also have experience implementing structured literacy in my classroom to ensure the success of my students. I use play and movement to ensure success because I know the importance of it in developing young children.
Homework Offered
After each lesson, they are asked to complete a quick workbook page on the letter we learned. This can be completed very quickly. There will also be extra games, workbook activities, and multi-sensory activities that you can print and play with your child to help them master their letter names and sounds. The independent practice piece after each lesson and the games will be the key to helping them achieve mastery, however how much time you spend on the activities is totally up to you!0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
After every five letters, there will be an assessment to track their ability to name the upper and lowercase letters, and their sounds, and write the upper and lowercase letters for the set of five. You do not have to complete these assessments but it is highly recommended so you can track your child's progress to guide them to mastery.Grades Offered
At the end of the course when they have earned and completed all of their mastery glasses they will receive a level 1 detective certificate so they can celebrate all of the hard work they put in!
