This mini-lesson on combining like terms introduces the basic concept and provides both guided and independent practice to help students solidify their understanding of simplifying algebraic expressions. By the end of this mini lesson,students will be able to identify like terms and combine them to simplify algebraic expressions. We will start with a review to see what they know followed by a quick check.
Students will be presented with two examples and try-it problems.
Students will then be able to practice what they know followed by a challenge activity.

My speciality is in specific learning disabilities. I go slow and repeat. I use colors to help with visual tracking.

Students should know how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers.
