What's included
1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Girls have requested their own group, and here it is! Each week, our club will meet to discuss the movie chosen for that week. Learners will discuss what they liked or didn't like about the movie, and why. This is intended to be fun and give learners an opportunity to connect with others about an interesting subject they have in common. Learners are free to disagree, as long as it is respectful. For example, it is okay to say, "I see your point, but I disagree because..." It is not okay to say, "That's stupid." We will start with a movie list provided by the teacher. Learners are invited to make suggestions for movies to add to the list. The July 4th movie will be MEAN GIRLS (starring Lindsay Lohan). Come to Club ready to discuss! :)
Learning Goals
Learners will gain an appreciation of storytelling through the visual medium of movies.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
All movies are rated G, PG, or PG-13. No R-rated movies will be viewed unless specifically agreed upon by all participants and their parents. Families are welcome to join in while watching the movies.
Supply List
Movies will be found on streaming channels.
Teacher expertise and credentials
This club was requested by one of my students. I think it will be a great experience to mentor this club because I hold an MFA in Professional Screenwriting, and am also a credentialed teacher and an award-winning children's book author. Plus, I want to give girls who love movies and want to hang out with other girls something positive and fun to do while our world is so un-busy.
