Class Experience

In this weekly class learners will get to delve into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and learn all about how the movies are made.
Classes will include an element of lecture based around:
- Pre-production topics including: storyboarding, script writing, location scouting and casting
- Production topics including: cinematography, mise-en-scene, sound and visual/special effects
- Post-production: editing, marketing, merchandise and synergy
This learning will then feature in the critical analysis of the movie through teacher led discussion.

There will also be time for fun discussion around topics such as:
- Easter eggs (not the chocolate kind!)
- Stan Lee cameos
- Comic book origins
- Favorite scenes
- Characters and casting choices
- Post credit teasers
- Wish list of future movies

There will also be an interactive Kahoot! quiz to complete each lesson based on the weekly movie watched.
The schedule of movies can be found below. Please note dates are roughly planned out in advance to give you notice but they may change.

*Disclaimer - current students have been through all lesson content, so we often also look at and discuss other media outside of the MCU including: movies, tv shows, theatre, music and gaming. Current students also like to contribute to class and will showcase videos they've made, present news, updates and theories and perform audition pieces for roles they are auditioning for etc.

The movies will be watched and discussed in the order of the MCU chronological timeline:

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been in education for 19 years and am currently the Assistant Head of Special Educational Needs in a secondary school (students aged 11-16) in the UK. I believe in an inclusive education for all students, no matter their ability or disability.
I teach English, Film and Media, and creativity is at the heart of all the classes I teach.
I was an art technician for three years in which I honed my artistic skills that I will use to offer art based classes.
I also ran my own small baking and cake decorating business for seven years; I even had celebrity clients! So, I hope to offer these classes to students in the near future.
In my spare time I love walking my pug and I am an avid reader of fantasy fiction. I also enjoy running; I have completed several half marathons and my goal is to complete a full marathon some day. I am a big kid at heart so look out for my Pokémon based classes!

I will leave you with one final thought: 'Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.' - Nelson Mandela.
