The Heart Word Method - Level 1: Sight Words Through Orthographic Mapping

In this class, students will master how to read irregularly spelled sight words using their decoding skills rather than memorizing whole words. The heart word method is based on the science of reading, which helps students map words in their brain similarly to decodable words. Each week, students will learn 4 new sight words by identifying the sounds they can decode and learning the parts of the word that do not follow spelling rules. At the end of each class, students will have heart word cards that they can use to practice their heart words at home.
