In this class you will learn the basics of crochet. How to select your yarn, crochet hook, pattern, practice creating chains and begin simple scarf. At end of class you will know how to Tie Off the project when it is desired length.

In this class, you will learn the Basics of Crochet. We will cover how to select your yarn, hook, and pattern. We will also practice creating simple chains and begin a simple scarf. You will learn how to Tie Off your project when you reach the desired length. To complete this class you will need 1-2 skeins (balls) of Bulky (size 5) yarn, a 9 mm crochet hook and a measuring tape. Students will practice their fine motor skills in the manipulation of the yarn and hook. They will practice math skills in stitch counting, and measurement to determine their desired outcome of their scarf.
Students may not have time to complete the project in class, as this is a new skill that may take some practice to master. However, they are welcome to reach out to me via email for further direction, and take future classes on the Basics of Crochet that I offer to continue to practice this skill with me.
To complete this class you will need 1-2 skeins (balls) of Bulky (size 5) yarn, a 9 mm crochet hook and a measuring tape. Also, a comfortable place to sit while you work if possible.
The student's progress is sassessed by the product they create. There is no formal assessment or grade created other than their own critique of their final project completed. However, if a parent needs a grade fro class credit for the student, they are welcome to reach out to me and I will gladly provide a participation grade for the parent to use along with their own assessment of the completed project. If a parent needs a more detailed assessment, please reach out to me and we will work out something for that student.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
