Created 4 years ago by Art Prof Sanya, this ongoing and supportive anime drawing class is designed for young artists (ages 9–14) who are passionate about anime, manga, fan art, and character design. With over 1,400 learners and still growing, this class has become one of our most popular offerings — we have multiple sections at different times, and many of them regularly sell out! Our small but passionate team of three teachers all contribute to the evolving syllabus, collaborating on the creative structure that Art Prof Sanya thoughtfully built. The program is rooted in art fundamentals — helping students learn to see like artists while having fun designing characters, taking inspiration from popular anime styles, and developing their own unique voice. 💬 Check out our intro video and reviews to see student artwork and hear what families are saying! ────────────────────────────────────────────── 𐃘𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬: Students learn through: ✔️ Step-by-step demonstrations ✔️ Personal feedback ✔️ Real-time interaction in a kind, encouraging space Each class rotates with fresh, exciting themes — from anime eyes to dynamic poses, detailed outfits to custom OCs. Some weeks are focused on relaxed sketching and creative exploration, while others guide students through completing more polished pieces. Certain projects emphasize learning specific drawing techniques, while others focus on the design process and developing original ideas. Please note that in every class, we vote together on what we’ll draw that day. Lessons are carefully built to avoid repetition, with each session focusing on something new — whether it’s a skill, a theme, or a creative approach. This structure allows us to offer an ongoing class that supports both brand-new learners starting from scratch and returning students looking to continue building their skills. We’re proud to say that one of our biggest strengths is making new students feel welcome and seen, while also keeping long-time learners engaged—even those who’ve been with us for years. ────────────────────────────────────────────── ✨ 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐨 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥? At My Art Academia, our anime classes go far beyond step-by-step demos — they’re a full creative experience. Yes, our live classes are filled with expert guidance, encouragement, and skill-building. But what truly sets us apart is everything that surrounds and supports those classes: 𝑊𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑘𝑖𝑑𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑝𝑦 — 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑠𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑦 𝑠𝑎𝑦 “𝑑𝑟𝑎𝑤 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒” 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑔𝑢𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒. We believe young artists thrive with structure and support, while still having room to explore and grow their unique style. In every class, we teach real drawing skills, walk through the design process, and guide students step-by-step — all while encouraging them to make their own creative choices and express their voice. It’s this balance of technique and freedom that helps them grow with confidence. Our focus is on: 🎨 Creative thinking & observation 📐 Design principles 🧠 Problem-solving through art 💪 Confidence-building through process No experience required! We welcome every learner with warmth and meet them exactly where they are. ────────────────────────────────────────────── 🎓 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐔𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 — 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬. (Pronounced Sanya) Artist. Educator. Total nature & anime + storytelling lover. 💻🎨 𝐈𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 — 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥. At the time, I was teaching at 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and working as a freelance artist — but as we all remember, everything came to a sudden pause. I deeply missed the energy of the classroom and the joy of creative collaboration. I didn’t know much about Outschool, but I decided to experiment and launched a few online art classes from home — and to my surprise, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭! The demand was incredible, and my passion for creating, sharing, and teaching was reawakened in the best way. I felt so alive again — surrounded by the joyful energy of kids, being playful, and stepping into the role of a creative mentor. Since then, I’ve personally taught 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 myself, forming meaningful connections with families and continuing to meet 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤. This opportunity to work my dream job remotely full-time gave me the freedom to move to Hawai’i, reconnect with nature, and continue developing my own visual art alongside teaching. I left behind years of working internationally in theatre and teaching at universities to follow something even more meaningful for me— ✨ 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐈 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟. ────────────────────────────────────────────── Holding an MFA from Northwestern University and having taught there as well as at other universities, I’ve had the privilege to collaborate on a wide range of creative projects — from major film productions (including work with Pierce Brosnan, Tom Felton, Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Lange), to theatre and opera (Lyric Opera of Chicago, Steppenwolf and Goodman Theatre), and design exhibitions across Europe and the U.S., such as the Prague Quadrennial. Over the years, I’ve received multiple awards, including the Elle Fashion Award (as co-founder of the fashion brand KLASA) and the Michael Merritt Award for Best Exhibit. I was also granted Extraordinary Ability Status in the U.S. for my contributions to the arts. ✨ These achievements — the result of years of passionate dedication — have prepared me to be the best mentor I can be for young artists today, while continuing to grow as a visual artist myself. But I wasn’t born knowing how to draw or design. Alongside years of hands-on experience, I was lucky to learn from exceptional mentors, including Ljiljana Petrovic and Ana Kuzmanic. Their belief and trust in me gave me the fuel to believe I could achieve anything I envisioned. ✨ I want to pass that same encouragement on to my students — to show them that with time, dedication, commitment, practice, and a passion for creating, anything is possible. I’m a lifelong learner, and for me, learning never ends — and that’s the energy I bring into every class.
