2-4 hours per week. There will be a weekly assignment (with two parts) to be completed outside of the classroom. The assignment will be exhibited and reviewed in the following meeting. The first part of the assignment involves locating an image that demonstrates the photographic concept/theme being discussed that particular week. The second part of the assignment will be to create your own image using the same concept/theme.Assessment
The learner will assess their progress in three ways: peer-review; self-review; and instructor review. Assignments will often repeat every few weeks to allow for additional opportunities to deepen their understanding and to practice the artistic concepts of collage that were explored.Class Experience
We will meet twice a week. The first meeting will be a multimedia lecture, discussion of a specific aspect of collage in art history and/or the work of famous artists from the past and present. The weekly artistic mission will be assigned in this first meeting and will be based on the lecture. The second meeting will be 3-4 four days later for the purpose of exhibiting their completed mission and participating in peer-review and discussion. Topics include, but not limited to: Art History of Collage Composition Techniques Collage Materials Color Theory Building a Portfolio How to Critique Images Qualities of Great Image Experimental Mediums of Art
Learning Goals
Students will learn several key elements: the history of collage in art, notable examples of collage, how to think like an artist, how to critique peer images in a constructive meaningful way, and most importantly how to express themselves artistically.

Supply List
The student simply needs to have access to some medium of art: painting, drawing, photography, cinema, scrapbooking, found items, papier-mache, etc.... And a way to submit the work digitally for review and exhibition The Student will also need standard study supplies and will be required to keep a journal of their process as a growing artist

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I'm very passionate about the subject and desire to help aspiring artists and photographers develop their talents.
