Homework
Learners may need to finish details about the artwork throughout the week and bring it back the following week to share.
Assessment
Formative assessments happen throughout class. If a parent requests I will give summative assessments.
Grading
Report cards or Certification of completion for the semester will be provided only if a parent/student makes a request. Grades will be positive and based on effort, and skill. The role that grades will play will be encouraging :).

✨ Communication is key- I strive to respond to parent messages within 24 hours on weekdays. As a heads up a few days before class, I share on the classroom wall a voluntary homework idea and a suggested supply list for the upcoming class. After class, I typically send a brief note to celebrate our progress.

Learning Goals

Learning Goals for Traveling & Painting Club: 

1. Cultural Appreciation: Gain an understanding and appreciation of different cultures and artistic styles through painting scenes inspired by various travel destinations.

2. Artistic Expression: Develop and refine artistic skills by experimenting with different painting techniques and mediums to capture the essence of different landscapes and cultures.

3. Observational Skills: Enhance observational skills by closely studying the architecture, landscapes, and people of different regions and translating those observations into paintings.

4. Creative Problem-Solving: Learn to creatively problem-solve by adapting to different environments and conditions while painting on-location (virtually) during travel excursions.

5. Critical Thinking: Analyze and interpret the cultural significance of the locations visited and express these insights through artistic interpretations in their paintings.

6. Time Management: Practice effective time management skills by planning and executing paintings within class time and if needed finishing up within the week. 

7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with peers and communicate effectively with instructors to gather inspiration, share ideas, and navigate artistic challenges encountered during travel and painting experiences.

8. Portfolio Development: Build a diverse portfolio of artwork showcasing a range of painting styles, techniques, and subject matter inspired by travel experiences, which can be valuable for college applications or future artistic endeavors.

9. Personal Growth: Cultivate a sense of curiosity, open-mindedness, and cultural awareness through immersive travel experiences and artistic exploration, fostering personal growth and self-discovery.
