This ongoing course is designed to prepare teenagers for the job market and empower them with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in their future careers. Each week, we will cover different aspects of employment readiness, including exploring job opportunities, resume development, job search techniques, apply for jobs, interview skills and preparation, workplace etiquette, and personal finance. Class Structured: The teacher introduces the topic and then teaches the concepts using a PowerPoint at the beginning of the session. We will work on tasks together in real time most weeks. For instance, we will work together in class to construct a resume, and we encourage learners to continue their efforts at home. They can share their progress and success through brief check-ins between tasks. Additionally, we will conduct mock interviews together. The class is small—no more than four students—and the teacher will use the breakout room, especially for mock interviews when needed. The teacher encourages learners to ask questions. Teaching Style: In general, my teaching style as a facilitator focuses on creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. I aim to foster open discussions, encourage participation, and provide real-life examples to help students relate to the topic. Fall 2024 starts the week of September 1st.
