Beginner - Intermediate Level
The first step in career exploration is understanding yourself and your interests. When you know what you're good at and what you love to do, you can choose a career that fits your personality and goals. This course aims to assist learners in gaining valuable insights into who they are and their strengths and interests through reflective activities, personality assessments, and skill evaluations. The ongoing class is also designed to improve career readiness and provide the necessary tools to help them achieve their future aspirations. Fall 2024 starts the week of September 1st. Feel free to join the class at any time! Each week covers different topics, so you can join whenever you're ready. Weekly Topics: Week 1: Week of September 1st-- My Achievements Week 2: Week of September 8th-- My Ideal Work Environment Week 3: Week of September 16th-- My Values Week 4: Week of September 23rd-- My Hobbies and Interests Week 5: Week of September 30th-- My Deals Makers and Breakers Week 6: Week of October 6th-- My Talents and Gifts Week 7: Week of October 13th-- Complete Career Assessments Week 8: Week of October 20th-- If I were a CEO, the activity Week 9: Week of October 27th-- My Strengths and Skills Sets Week 10: Week of November 3rd-- Dream Career Genie Week 11: Week of November 10th-- Exploring My Passions and Career Aspirations Week 12: Week of November 17th-- Career Reflection Week 13: Week of November 24th-- Career Exploration Worksheet Week 14: Week of December 1st -- Defining My Purpose Week 15: Week of December 8th--Let US Create An Ideal Job Vision Board Week 16: Week of December 15th-- My Long-Term Goals (SMART Goals) Class Structured: The teacher introduces the topic, and then the learners engage in a guided experience through prompts and assessments. Learners are encouraged to ask questions. Some weeks, depending on the number of participants, the teacher engages students in group discussions. The teacher encourages learners to record their thoughts and responses in a journal. As a teacher, my role is to facilitate an experience so that learners can learn more about themselves. Spring will start the week of January 20th.

I have a Master's Degree in Education specializing in Guidance Counseling. Additionally, I work as a faculty advisor at a two-year college and teach students life skills. I have worked in higher education for over 15 years.
