Class Experience

Sunflowers are incredible, beautiful flowers. They are known as a symbol of peace, optimism, and unity. In this class, we'll discuss the symbolism of sunflowers, and what lessons we can learn from them (incorporating ideas of having a growth mindset). Though we may touch on current events, and the use of the sunflower to show the desire for peace, this class will not be diving into a political discussion. Instead, we'll be focusing on how we can express positivity, kindness, and our feelings through our art.
We will also learn about the expressionist style of painting. Painting is a form of self-expression, and this style is all about expressing your own individual creativity and powerful ideas in your own way!
Learners will follow along a step-by-step painting tutorial (encouraged along the way to use their own creativity, and make their own artistic decisions). We may all follow the same tutorial, but the choices made along the way may be different (flower amount, shapes, colors, boldness, background lines, etc.) - we will talk about how our paintings are representations of ourselves; different, unique, and all beautiful!
(Please note- I have created examples of the types of flowers/painting we will be completing in this class, which can be seen in the class video.)
