Cursive Writing and Animal Class! In this class, each week we will learn about a new animal - what makes that animal unique, their diet, habitat, cool and unusual facts about that animal, and how important they are to our planet. There will be a worksheet for learners to write the name of the Animal of the Week, what they eat, and what makes them awesome (choosing their favorite fact/facts from the lesson to write). A worksheet will be provided in the classroom for learners to print prior to each lesson. After learning about the animal, learners will follow along step-by-step as we write the name of the animal in cursive. We will practice letter formation, line slant, spacing, size, and rhythmic flow. Writing in cursive has many benefits - it improves hand-eye coordination, memory, focus, provides a flow of thought while writing, and activates different neurological pathways than typing on a keyboard. My teaching style is encouraging and fun! I am passionate about appreciating each and every animal on this planet, as well as the importance of making sure that cursive doesn't become a lost art - this class is a combination of those two passions!
Learning Goals
Classroom goals: To learn more about the wonderful, cool, strange, unique, and important creatures sharing this planet with us, practice the fundamentals of cursive writing, to write a new animal name each week, to gain confidence, and make friends!
