Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
In this class, learners will write a response to the "Question(s) of the Day" in their notebooks. Creative writing is a great way for your learner to work on clearly explaining their ideas, broaden their thoughts, build confidence, use their imagination, and to develop the skill of "thinking outside the box."

Join at anytime! I would love to meet your learner for one lesson, or for the course :)

There are no right or wrong answers here! The focus of this class is for your learner to explain their thoughts with examples, express themselves, build confidence through sharing their work with their peers, practice uplifting/encouraging others, and strengthen their writing skills.

Questions will be thought-provoking, silly, and/or reflective.

Example questions:
"Where would you like to go that you have never been?", "If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what would it be?", "If you could be any animal for a day, which animal would you be and why?", "If you were invisible for a day, where would you go? What would you do?", "If you could visit any planet, which one would you go to?", "You are given $5,000 from a magic genie that you must spend today. What would you buy?"

Learners will work on not just answering the question with a few words, but expanding their answers, explaining their ideas/reasons for their opinion, and writing in complete sentences.
There will be examples and sentence starters for each question (where learners have the option of filling in the blanks to complete their answers) to assist learners with their writing. They will be given different examples of how to begin their responses.

After given time to write their response, learners will share their responses with their peers in a fun, relaxed, encouraging environment. We will discuss how to positively respond to/compliment the creative work of others.

Please note that this is more of a social writing club :) There will also be time for us to doodle/draw together (illustrating our ideas/answers). We're going to have a great time!!
I recommend using the same notebook for these classes so that your learner will have their answers in the same place, and to keep as a keepsake - these will be fun treasures to read and reflect on later in life!
