Public speaking can be terrifying! This self-paced course is designed to give students an introduction to becoming more comfortable and confident speaking to an audience. Throughout 6 lessons, students will explore the fundamentals of public speaking through pre-recorded videos, flashcards, activities, and other engaging resources. Students will progress through each lesson at their own pace. Topics Include: - An Introduction to Public Speaking - When Emotions Take Control - How Your Body Impacts Your Presence - How Your Voice Impacts Your Message - When Words Create Distractions - Presentation Evaluation Lessons are 15-20 minutes long, with about 10 minutes of practice work each week. Students are asked to submit 60-second videos for each lesson. These assignments help students practice the skills discussed in each lesson. Feedback will be provided for assignments on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Students are asked to review the feedback and also provide their own notes on their progress. Students are welcome to submit a second video for review that incorporates the feedback provided on the original video. Though this second video is optional, the additional practice is extremely helpful. No prior experience or knowledge is required for this course.
Learning Goals

Currently, I have my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and I am a Certified Life and Leadership Development Coach. I have experience presenting in the classroom and corporate setting. I’ve worked for multiple Fortune 100 companies and will bring real world experience in a fun and interactive environment.
Our classes are a partnership between the students, their families, and myself. Each class is hyperactive, meaning the students will be speaking and participating throughout class. All students will have the opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences, and presentations to the class. Students will have the opportunity to offer and receive feedback from their peers. This not only creates a collaborative learning community, but also reinforces learning. I also weave the student’s interests into the lessons to keep them engaged.
When in class, you may hear a funny tune. I'm no professional, but I love to make up impromptu songs, rhymes, and raps on almost any subject. So, your student is not on YouTube or TikTok. It's just our creativity on full display.
