Communication is the key to success! Communicating our thoughts, ideas, and knowledge is expected throughout school and life. This may sound boring or even terrifying to some and that is why this class exists. During this interactive, ongoing course, students will learn and practice public speaking and presentation design skills. From the basics of body language to the technical of how to design a slide. Each week, we will cover something new with fun activities and class interactions to make the concepts stick. Students will have the opportunity to present in almost every class. They will also give and receive feedback from me, the instructor, and each other. ⇢ Week 1: Intro to Public Speaking and Presentations ⇢ Week 2: Body Language: How to take your body language to the next level. ⇢ Week 3: Tone: Energizing your audience with your tone. ⇢ Week 4: Filler Words: Count them out. Removing filler words from the conversation ⇢ Week 5: Content Building: Make it clear and concise. Structuring your speech for success. ⇢ Week 6: Visual Aids: Practical and creative techniques for complimentary visual aids. ⇢ Week 7: Audience Engagement: Gain and maintain the attention of your audience. Students will practice their skills with short, fun presentations. Our classroom is a collaborative community that is a safe space for practicing a very challenging skill (public speaking). To create a more comfortable environment, students can help decide what fun topic will be used for their practice presentations. This course is intended to advance fundamental public speaking skills. It is recommended, but not required, that students have participated in any of the "Speak Up! Public Speaking for Introverts" classes prior to signing up.
Learning Goals
Students will advance their public speaking skills beyond the basics.
Students will practice crafting engaging speeches in every class.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Public speaking is challenging for many. Please be supportive of your student by encouraging them to participate, but not pressuring them. Each student starts at a different skill level. I can typically gauge during the student's first class, where they are on their journey (with public speaking, introversion/shyness, etc.). If you would like to provide helpful information for your child, please message me privately. I recommend allowing a few weeks of class to start seeing progress with participation and/or skills.
Pre-Requisites
It is helpful if students have participated in one of the Speak Up! - Public Speaking for Introverts classes.

Currently, I have my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and I am a Certified Life and Leadership Development Coach. I have experience presenting in the classroom and corporate setting. I’ve worked for multiple Fortune 100 companies and will bring real world experience in a fun and interactive environment.
Our classes are a partnership between the students, their families, and myself. Each class is hyperactive, meaning the students will be speaking and participating throughout class. All students will have the opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences, and presentations to the class. Students will have the opportunity to offer and receive feedback from their peers. This not only creates a collaborative learning community, but also reinforces learning. I also weave the student’s interests into the lessons to keep them engaged.
When in class, you may hear a funny tune. I'm no professional, but I love to make up impromptu songs, rhymes, and raps on almost any subject. So, your student is not on YouTube or TikTok. It's just our creativity on full display.
