Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Is your learner struggling to understand division? Do you worry about their math confidence as abstract concepts become more challenging?

You are not alone. Many parents want to support learning when their learner is overwhelmed by complex mathematical ideas.

As an experienced, inclusive, certified educator with a Master's of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as being Minecraft Education certified and an avid Minecraft STEAM educator, I have created this course with a commitment to your child's learning success.

I have designed a unique learning experience that transforms division from a confusing, abstract concept into a hands-on kinesthetic experience they can build their confidence with, building on their strengths and interests all within Minecraft.

In this specialized, high-interest course, your child will:

• Break down division into visual, tangible experiences using their Minecraft game

• Explore multiple strategies for understanding division within 100

• Create Minecraft arrays, equal groupings, use inverse operations of multiplication to find the missing factor, the technique of repeat subtraction, and a Minecraft number line to solve division equations and make abstract mathematical concepts clear and concrete

• Build mathematical confidence without the demand of rote memorization

No previous multiplication memorization, or division knowledge, is required. This course is designed to be inclusive and adaptable, welcoming learners of various ages and skill levels.

As a supportive asynchronous mentor every step of the way, I offer responsive, positive guidance throughout this course and am happy to extend my interactive assistance an additional 30 days beyond the official Outschool course window. Plus, with full one-year of content access, your child can revisit and reinforce their learning at any time.

Let's turn division from a challenge into a learning experience that sparks curiosity, understanding, and confidence.

Learning Goals

Learners are able to develop a variety of strategies to determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers
Learners are able to develop a variety of strategies to solve division equations using the relationship between multiplication and division as well as division and repeat subtraction.
