Class experience
Students will come together for 25 minutes each week to develop their social skills and foster social connections. Students will participate in group discussions, enjoy engaging activities, and interact with their peers. Hello, I'm Alison, and I'm thrilled to be here to guide your child on a journey of enhancing their friendship and social skills. With over 16 years of experience as a School Counselor, Special Educational Needs Coach, and School Social Worker, I'm dedicated to teaching social, emotional, and well-being skills to children and young people. During the last decade, I've worked as an international school counselor. I have frequently conducted individual and group sessions covering a range of topics, including social skills, friendship skills, promoting esteem, anger management, self-regulation, executive functioning, self-control, ADHD/Autism support, and understanding / responding to strong feelings. I have been teaching social, emotional, well-being and character development for most of my career. To support this work, I have been trained in and utilize various accredited social and emotional programs, including Zones of Regulation, Kelso's Choices, and Second Step. These programs have also played a key role within my lessons as they promote emotional intelligence, empathy, and problem-solving skills. I have spent a number of years working with students with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The focus of my work was on developing their executive functioning, social skills, and academics.
Please have drawing materials. For the show and tell segment, I have suggested a theme, but students are encouraged to share whatever interests them. There is no pressure to adhere to the theme, as the classes are a fun chance for students to share what they love.
