30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing class children will share their love of books with others. Each learner will have the opportunity to share a current book or 2 that they love or are reading. We will have time to ask questions of each other along with a question writing prompt to promote reading comprehension skills. Class Layout: 1. Welcome 2. Book Spotlight + Peer Questions 3. Reading Comprehension Question 4. Closing Reading is a powerful tool and I think fostering a love of reading at a young age can open up the world. This class is meant to be fun while also promoting some critical thinking and writing skills as students answer 1-2 grade level appropriate questions about their book each week. The class layout stays the same each week and there is no changing topic as this is a social book club where we discuss books and answer critical thinking questions each week. Please ensure the book, or books, your child is wanting to discuss are age and Outschool appropriate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Teaching is my happy place!
In 2012, I received an AA in Social/Behavioral Sciences. A few years later, I returned to school for my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate and began teaching both yoga and fitness classes to children. I earned my Bachelors in Educational Studies, with an emphasis on Elementary Education in Summer 2023.
I have worked with elementary students in small group settings on reading strategies, writing improvement and math concepts since 2013. Currently I am a stay at home mom to my 13 month old daughter.
I believe in meeting your child where they are at and helping them find growth, foster a sense of curiosity and discover a love of learning.
In my writing classes, I make the task of writing a paragraph fun rather than daunting. In my yoga classes we combine engaging activities with movement. In my reading and book club classes we take our love of books and work on both our reading and reading comprehension skills.
Reading is my number one hobby. And I need more bookshelves. Always. My husband and I are recent transplants to the lovely state of Utah with our two dogs, Lola and Zoey.
