Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class meets twice a week as an intensive intervention for struggling readers. L E S S O N C O M P O N E N T S Each day will have a similar structure starting with drill work, building up to reading a decodable passage together. 👂🏽Phonemic Awareness - Blend and segment spoken words. 🎯 Drills - Visual, Auditory, and Blending 👩🏫 New Concept Introduction 📚 Word Reading Practice 📝 Word Spelling Practice ❤️ Heart Words (irregular spellings) 📚 Sentence Reading 📚 Reading Passage Each class session builds on the previous class and includes multiple opportunities for practice and review of previously taught skills. We can work together to make a class that suits your learner's needs. 📖 INTENSIVE READING INSTRUCTION Learners who are reading below grade level often require intensive reading support. Recent studies from the National Bureau of Economic Research show that high-dosage tutoring, with at least three weekly sessions lasting 30 minutes each, is key for academic success. 📖 PROGRESS MONITORING Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring are fundamental aspects of my approach to ensure each student's steady progress. I continuously evaluate the effectiveness of my lessons, and make necessary adjustments. As a special education teacher, my commitment is to help students with diverse learning needs overcome reading challenges and build the confidence they need to excel in reading and beyond.
