I will informally assess each learner's understanding of the vocabulary words, as well as readiness to move on to singing a new portion of the song.

Class Experience

The snowman in your yard is made of snow, but what if you could make one out of spaghetti? Let's change a normal snowman into our own silly creation! As a group, we will compose a unique song that your student helped to create!
To begin class, we will learn the melody and basic structure of an easy to sing song about a snowman.  Students will discuss the definition of melody, and explore the way the melody moves higher and lower through movement and singing. We will then identify how the lyrics of this song can be changed to make it into something different and silly. We will use this knowledge to make new lyrics to the song by completing a mad-libs style activity.
Students will work together to create new lyrics by taking turns sharing their silly words. My teaching style is very interactive! Each student will have the opportunity to provide individual input. Students will practice the musical skills of singing, keeping a steady beat, and composing.


No prior knowledge or outside materials are required to participate in this class.

Learning goals for this class include the following:
Students will learn the music vocabulary words "melody," and "lyrics." 
Students will practice identifying when music moves higher or lower through movement.
Students will learn to sing a new song.
Students will work together to come up with new, silly lyrics.
