I will informally assess each learner's understanding of the vocabulary, and comfort singing the new lyrics as we complete the activities during class.Class Experience
Let's change an ordinary song into our own silly creation! As a group, we will compose a unique song that your student helped to create. This activity can be a great way to allow learners to think creatively, feel comfortable being silly, and enjoy making music with others. To begin class each week, we will learn the melody and basic structure of a well-known, kid-friendly song. Students will discuss the definition of melody and lyrics, and identify how the lyrics of this song can be changed to make it into something completely different. We will use this knowledge to make new lyrics to the song by completing a mad-libs style activity. Students will work together to create new lyrics by taking turns sharing their silly words. My teaching style is very interactive! Each student will have the opportunity to provide individual input. Students will practice the musical skills of singing, keeping a steady beat, and composing. Learners are always encouraged to suggest songs to be used in future classes! Here are our upcoming music themes for our current session: Week of: March 17: APT (Kidz Bop Version) March 24: No Class - Spring Break March 31: Some Things Never Change April 7: Into The Unknown April 14: No Class April 21: We Don't Talk About Bruno April 28: Sunshine *Themes are subject to change based on student requests. If your student has signed up to do a specific song listed, please let me know! No prior knowledge or outside materials are required to participate in this class.
