Homework
1-2 hours per week. Learners will need to work on their songs or songwriting exercises outside of class. We will do some work during class but as songwriting can take time, there will be a need to keep working on projects beyond class.Class Experience
This class is for beginner or intermediate songwriters. Are you struggling to finish songs or wondering the best way to figure out a melody to some chords that you've organized into a structure? This is a class where I work with you towards your own style of songwriting. 🎹Are you ready to take your songwriting to the next level? Whether you're just starting out or you've been writing a long time, coaching can help you refine your creative process, understand the ins and outs of songwriting, and become the best and most confident songwriter you can be. 🪕As a beginner, you'll work with me step by step to master the basics and build your confidence. We will find out how songwriting works for you. You might be a lyrics first sort of person or a melody/chords starter. Let's find out! 🥁 If you're an intermediate songwriter, we'll focus on the skills and inspiration you need to level up. And if you're an experienced songwriter, I'll provide you with feedback, encouragement, and motivation to keep you writing and refining your process. 🎸No matter your age or experience level, whether you're pursuing a career in music or just writing for your own enjoyment, I'm here to help you reach your goals. So if you're ready to take your songwriting to the next level, let's work together and make some magic! *This course directly relates to Music Grades 5-12 in the B.C. Ministry of Education's Curricular Core Competencies in particular: Music Theory, Creative Process, Performer/Audience roles, music history, music ethics, technology and vocal technique.

We are a Neuroaffirming Organization! We support learners with different needs and meet them where they are at. We are experienced scribes and enjoy exploring different approaches to writing and creating for each learner.
Supply List
An instrument or way to accompany themselves, note paper, music paper (can be supplied as a pdf if needed), pencil, eraser, patience, and perseverance. Ensure that you know how to change your audio settings to have Original Sound for Musicians selected to be able to share sound properly in class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
